Why VillarsSafe exists

VillarsSafe began after a serious skiing accident made us think differently about how students share information on the mountain.

We realised that students often know which intersections, icy sections or difficult areas require extra attention, but that knowledge is usually passed informally between friends.

VillarsSafe is an attempt to make that local knowledge easier to share.

Our aim is simple: better awareness before you reach the difficult section.

Skiing has always been a big part of my life. I was on my school's varsity ski team and spent every free moment I could on the mountain.

On my birthday, I had a serious accident. Without my back protector, I could have been paralysed. I was lucky, but I still couldn't ski for the rest of the season, and that was hard to accept.

When I talked to friends about it afterwards, several of them told me they had nearly been hurt at the same spot. The danger was known, but only by word of mouth.

That is why I started VillarsSafe. If that knowledge had been easy to find, my accident might never have happened.
